Nicolas Caubarrere

Surf and Art are Nicolas Caubarrere’s ways of life while he visits serenely and relaxed some beach on the Pacific Ocean.He seems to need nothing more than his oils and brushes while he gets lost in the continuous movement of a turquoise colored sea. That same sea that seems to be “heard” when one looks at some of his paintings. His days are spent between sand and surf, under some remote sun,the same that shines in Punta del Este and Hawaii, where he lives,and creates his paintings,enjoying his present time of surfer and artist together with his wife Soledad.

Caubarrere was born in Uruguay and remembers when he was a kid,moments lived together with his grandfather Enrique Gomensoro who owned an auction house where he usually dealt with very important paintings of national and international artists.Nicolas is a selfmade artist ,starting very early to paint surf scenes,way back to the 1980’s when SurfArt was not so common.He was very interested in Rick Griffin’s work, a Californian artist who use to travel the world surfing and painting.Nicolas therefore went to Hawaii, together with Soledad that shares his love for that style of life and later started a pilgrimade through the Polinesian Islands.He was influenced by the Polinesian culture and his work shows many of those paradisiac corners of the South Pacific ocean where one can always discover some solitary spot,inviting us to get into the sea and purify our mind.

It’s a sort of pilgrimage following the Pacific ocean currents from Southern California to the whole of the Hawaiian Islands where he has a part time living base and from there to the Frendh Polinesia,inspired in legendary names like Captain Cook and Paul Gauguin.Admiring the Polinesian culture,his work visits every island always looking for surf and inspiration.

Today, Nicolas Caubarrere is invited by the Meridien for a second exhibition, until the end of august 2008.

Caubarrere est né en Uruguay et se souvient quand il était enfant, des moments vécu avec son grand-père Enrique Gomensoro qui possédait un maison de vente aux enchères où il avait l'habitude de vivre avec des peintres très important aux niveaux national et international .Nicolas est un artiste autodidacte,très tôt poil peint  des scènes de surf, vers les années 1980 , lorsque SurfArt n'était pas si repandu. Il a été très intéressé par le travail

de Rick Griffin , une artiste californienne qui utilisent pour voyager le monde de surf et painting.Nicolas est donc allé à Hawaï, en collaboration avec Soledad qui partage son amour pour ce style de vie et, plus tard, a commencé par un tour des îles de la Polynésie,partageant ainsi son temps entre les plages de Hawaii, de Tahiti et d'Urugay.

Surf et art  sont le  mode de vie de Nicolas Caubarrere, alors qu'il visite serein et détendu les plages du Pacifique . IL semble n'avoir besoin de rien de plus que ses huiles et pinceaux alors qu'il se perd dans le mouvement continu d'une mer de couleur turquoise. Cette même mer qui semble être "entendu" lorsque l'on se penche sur quelques-unes de ses peintures. Ses jours sont passé entre le sable et le surf,  la même qui brille à Punta del Este et à Hawaï, où il vit et crée ses tableaux,  avec sa femme Soledad.

Aujourd'hui, pour une deuxième fois, Nicolas est invité à exposer à L'Atelier de Le Meridien Hotel à Tahiti et vous invite à partager sa passion pour l'art.
